Key Stage 2 playground case study

- Multi Use Games Arena (MUGA)
- Trim trail installation
Indicative Budget: £140,000
This project was to redesign the Key Stage 2 playground and provide a Multi Use Games Arena for the children to play sports in a safe environment. The arena can be used for all sports including football, basketball and netball.
The brief was to also incorporate an area of the playground that allowed the older children to be challenged physically with impact absorbing surfacing.
Area 1 included a 19m x 12m MUGA with 4m high walls, 3m hexagonal stage with seating, removal of old steps and gate, build a retaining wall and supply and install 315m2 of wet pour in green within the MUGA area. Total cost including labour and materials was £54,858.60 plus VAT.
Area 2 was installed with 685m2 of wet pour in black with a trim trail (log traverse, log weaver, jumping pegs, balance beam, horizontal ladder, chain bridge and a v shape net). Total cost including labour and materials was £62,499 plus VAT.
